Vertical partitioning

Vertical partitioning is like the normalization process followed in a database setup. The information belonging to a table or relation is split with a certain number of columns between each of the database nodes, while keeping a copy of the base column (primary column) to uniquely identify each record.

Vertical partitioning is more helpful if each of the organizational units located in different geographies have separate operations. It is a more logical partitioning of information based on the behavior and function that each node performs.

However, the aggregation of the data involves complex queries with joins across the location database, as no replication is made for non-primary columns.
