User Acceptance Testing

This is the end-to-end testing performed after all the preceding tests are successful. The focus and intention of the User Acceptance Testing is to confirm the application is meeting the business process operation and not just the low-level component behavior.

The following are the series of steps involved in the User Acceptance Testing:

A group of subject matter experts for the application get together and perform the represented series of operations, seen in the preceding diagram, thoroughly to ensure that the application is complying to the strategy.

The key features of User Acceptance Testing include:

  • The increased satisfaction of the clients to ensure that the requirements are met, and a boosts the confidence in the product on its real environment behavior and any unforeseen critical issues.
  • The functional quality of the product is expected through the earlier phases of implementation.
  • It establishes better communication between the implementation and the business teams as the acceptance criteria is improved through the series of user acceptance tests.
  • The engineering team gets confidence about the product implementation and any risk of post production/go-live issues.
  • Better understanding of the target audience needs through stakeholders' engagement in UAT.

By spending about 5-10% of the project time for UAT, we can save almost 30% of the total waste, which is a good way to ensure a better ROI from the project for the stakeholders.
