Summary

In this chapter, you learned about essential enterprise messaging concepts and their role in distributed computing. You also learned about the message queue system through the publish/subscribe and Point-To-Point messaging concepts. Then we covered JMS, interfaces in JMS, and the process of developing a JMS application. We also discussed web services and their architecture and implemented different types of web service, such as SOAP and RESTful, with examples. We finished this chapter with an understanding of enterprise integration patterns and how to design a messaging system using these design patterns.

In the next chapter, you will learn about HPC Cluster Computing and how it contributes to distributed computing. We'll do this by demonstrating a few examples in detail.
