A Final Thought:

Putting It All into Practice

Now that you have read this book, it’s time to implement what you’ve learned. It’s time to ask yourself, “What am I going to do differently now? How can I use what I have learned to change my behavior for the better and encourage others in the company to change theirs as well?”

My suggestion is to take a few chapters at a time and work to get those tactics right before you move on to something else. Trying to do everything at once is too overwhelming. Once you’ve made some headway you’ll get a boost of enthusiasm and energy that will power you to tackle the next areas.

This book can serve as an on-boarding tool for new leaders at all levels. When they read it up front they’ll be able to start their career with your company on the right foot. Current leaders may also read it as a refresher course. Even when we’re not actively working to change some aspect of how we lead, it’s good to always keep the principles of great leadership at the top of our minds.

Don’t expect to master the concepts in this book overnight. Improving our leadership is a gradual process. Be kind to yourself and others inside your company who are working to get better and better. Nothing worth doing is easy or quick. Leadership is both an art and a science and as such requires time, repetition, and patience.

Most of all, I hope you learn something new from reading this book. I learned a lot from writing it. Being a great leader is no different from being a great employee or a great human being: we never, ever stop learning.

Thank you for reading The Busy Leader’s Handbook. I am grateful for having the opportunity to play a small role in your leadership journey.
