Creating a standard port group using the HTML5 interface

Follow these steps to create a standard port group:

  1. Log in to the vCenter Server using the HTML5 client.
  2. From the Hosts and Clusters inventory view, select the ESXi host to create the vSwitch on.
  3. Navigate to Configure | Networking | Virtual switches and click Add Networking to start the wizard.
  1. In the Add Networking wizard, select Virtual Machine Port Group for a Standard Switch and click Next to continue:

  1. On the Select target device screen, browse and select an existing standard vSwitch and click Next to continue:

You could also choose to create a new standard vSwitch for the port group to be formed on.
  1. On the Connection settings screen, specify a name (Network label) for the port group and an optional VLAN ID. Click Next to continue:

  1. On the Ready to complete screen, review the settings and click Finish:

  1. The Port Groups tab of the vSwitch should now list the newly created port group:

This completes the process of creating a port group on a standard vSwitch using the HTML5 client.
