The following procedure will help you to enable software iSCSI and configure access to the iSCSI storage:
- Connect to vCenter Server using the HTML5 client.
- Select the ESXi host, navigate to Configure | Storage Adapters, and click Add Software Adapter:
- In the Add Software Adapter window, click Add software iSCSI adapter and click OK:
To configure access to the array, follow these steps:
- Select the iSCSI adapter and make a note of its iSCSI Qualified Name (IQN) in the Properties tab. The IQN is used to add the host initiator at the array and map LUNs to it:
- Go to the Dynamic Discovery tab and click Add... to specify the details of the iSCSI server/array:
- In the Add Send Target Server window, specify the FQDN or IP address of the iSCSI server and click OK:
- Rescan the software iSCSI adapter in order to discover the devices mapped to it:
- When the rescan is complete, the Devices tab will list the LUNs mapped to the host:
This completes the process of configuring iSCSI access for ESXi using a software iSCSI adapter.
