The following procedure will help you to bind VMkernel adapters to the software iSCSI adapter:
- Ensure that the VMkernel adapters have been prepared by using the instructions in the Getting ready section of this recipe.
- Go to the ESXi host and navigate to Configure | Storage Adapters, select the iSCSI adapter, go to its Network Port Binding tab, and click + Add...:
- In the Bind vmhba65 with VMkernel Adapter window, select both of the port groups corresponding to the VMkernel interfaces and click OK:
- Once done, the VMkernel adapters will be listed under Network Port Binding. The Path Status is Not used because the targets have not been associated with the interfaces yet. Issue a rescan to associate the targets to the VMkernel interface:
- After a rescan, the Path Status for both bound interfaces are set to Active:
- You should now see two paths per target from the iSCSI initiator:
This completes the process of binding VMkernel ports to the software iSCSI adapter to achieve multipathing.
