CREATIVE PROMPTS & CHALLENGES TO UNLOCK YOUR CREATIVITY

This section offers calligraphy prompts to help you keep the momentum going and hone your newfound skill. You can go through the prompts before practicing if you wish.

Being busy can disrupt your goals, and it’s easier to postpone practice time rather than setting aside time for it. But dedicating at least 15 to 30 minutes to sit with your brush pens and have a mindful practice is already enough to improve your calligraphy. Think of it as your daily relaxation after a day of work.

30 Days of Lettering

Challenge yourself to practice one new word each day for 30 days. You can focus on one style for the entire month or mix up the lettering styles if you prefer.

Quotes & Compositions

If you’re still having a hard time coming up with composition designs for quotes or phrases, this next prompt aims to help you in this area of lettering.

You can do this weekly or for a few consecutive days—whatever works best for you.

Each week or day, have a design idea to create the given quote. For example, week 1 encourages you to try blended lettering on a shape of your choice. You might want to letter the quote in a circle or square and use the blending technique.

Don’t limit yourself to the prompts of the week. Explore and think of other designs that spark your creativity!
