Moodle is available in 82 languages and widely used around the world. You can give users a choice of language, or you can force a language for a course. The Language category offers three different settings.
The Language Settings page gives you a number of options, such as setting the default language, enabling users to set a language for their browser, display menu for language options, and so on. Each selection is explained on the Moodle editing page specific to the particular selection, with a link at the bottom of the page to Moodle docs for more detailed explanation.
The Language Editing page provides you with a tool to change any word or phrase used on the site. You may, for instance, want to change the word Assignments to Offline Activities. The Language Editing link takes you to a new Moodle page with three links under the main tab, as shown in Figure 13-18:
Each link takes you to an editing page with a number of options for changing the default settings.
Moodle has more than 75 languages that you can install on your Moodle site. To add a language pack, follow these steps:
