No Microsoft service is complete without storage. Microsoft offers different kinds of storage solutions for different purposes, as follows:
- Blob storage: Object storage for unstructured data, based on REST.
- Queue storage: Storage for apps with reactive scaling, according to traffic.
- File storage: These are file shares that are used to deliver a standard SMB 3.0 protocol from the cloud. Azure File offers a service called Azure File Sync, which enables a OneDrive or Windows Server distributed filesystem replication or DFS-R like service with an Azure backend.
- Disk storage: Secure and persistent disk options for virtual machine storage.
- StorSimple: Azure StorSimple is a unique hybrid cloud storage appliance for storage, archiving, and disaster recovery.
- Azure Backup: Azure Backup protects data, shared files, folders, and virtual machine workloads.
- Azure Site Recovery: Azure Site Recovery protects workloads and applications by the replication and recovery of private clouds, virtualized or server infrastructures for disaster recovery.
