Oracle Managed Files (OMF)

Eliminates the need to specify file locations and names for database objects. Initialization parameters specify the default file system directories for each type of database file.

ORBn

In an ASM instance, this performs the actual extent movement between disks in the disk groups managed by the ASM instance. n can be from 0 to 9.

OSMB

The background process on a database instance that performs the communication between the database instance and the ASM instance.

OTHER_GROUPS

The consumer group assigned to sessions that are not assigned to any consumer group included in the enabled resource plan.

overloaded procedure

A procedure that accepts different parameter lists as arguments. Oracle matches the parameter list submitted with the defined parameter lists and chooses the correct version of the procedure to execute.

overloading

A programming method that entails the creation of objects, procedures, etc. that can accept diverse sets of arguments and/or datatypes. For example, a function that accepts character, numeric, or date data for a particular argument is overloading.
