job

An Oracle scheduler object that specifies a program to be run, and a schedule to determine when the program should be run and how often it should be repeated.

job attributes

A group of modifiable job characteristics that define the job's behavior.

job coordinator

A background process (with the format cjqnnn) that is automatically started when jobs must be run, or job windows must be opened. It is automatically suspended after the scheduler is inactive for a period of time. It controls and starts the job slaves and queries the job table for new jobs.

job group

A logical grouping of individual job objects used to simplify management and prioritize execution of the objects.

job instance

A single execution of a program by a job.

job logs

Tables populated by the scheduler that maintain information about job executions.

job slave process

A process that executes the submitted jobs and updates the job table when the submitted job completes.

job table

A table that contains one entry for a job definition, regardless of how many times a job runs. The job log contains an entry each time the job runs.

journal table

A table used during an online index rebuild to capture changes to the index that occur while the rebuild operation is in progress.
