Enterprise Manager (EM)

A GUI-based DBA tool that performs backups, exports/imports, data loads, performance monitoring/tuning, job and event scheduling, and most other routine DBA management tasks.

EXPORT utility

A backup utility that backs up only logical components of the database, such as tables, indexes, and privileges.

external procedures

Shared library procedures called from an executable program written in a different language.

external redundancy

For an ASM disk group with only one failure group, relying on the external disk hardware subsystem to provide mirroring.

EXTPROC_DLLS

An environment variable that can be defined to limit access to shared library objects for external procedures.
