tag option

A command option that allows for making backups unique with a user-defined character string.

target database

The database that is identified or targeted by Recovery Manager (RMAN) to perform backup and recovery operations.

tempfile

A type of tablespace where management occurs locally or in the tablespace, as opposed to in the data dictionary like a permanent tablespace.

temporary tablespace

The tablespace that is responsible for sorting operations.

TNS listener

An Oracle process that listens for requests from Oracle clients and forwards them to their appropriate destination.

trace file

A detailed file containing diagnostic information relating to an Oracle process.

TRACEFILE_IDENTIFIER

An initialization parameter used to append an identifying text string to the name of the user process trace files.

transient

Oracle files in the Flash Recovery Area that will eventually be deleted when they become obsolete or are moved to tape. Transient files include all files stored in the Flash Recovery Area except for multiplexed copies of control files and the copies of the online redo log files stored in the Flash Recovery Area. Data files, flashback logs, and RMAN backups are considered transient files.
