CONCLUSIONS

Summary of the elements

There are four main elements that need to be considered for a generic assessment process, and they are:

  • the framework definition, where source frameworks are understood and mapped to other frameworks;

  • the framework population, where an applicable competency set is defined along with the evidence types that are to be accepted at each level;

  • the assessment set-up, where the major assessment inputs, such as the assessment scope, are defined;

  • the assessment, where the assessments themselves are carried out, the results captured and a profile produced.

In reality, there will be a number of processes that are executed to realise these elements and this will be the focus of the next chapter, where the core set of UCAM processes will be identified and described.
