Figure B.7 shows the notation used in activity diagrams. An example activity diagram is shown in Figure B.8.

Figure B.8 shows the behaviour for ‘Assessment Set-up’ (one of the UCAM processes). Partitions are used to show that some of the activities are the responsibility of the ‘Assessment Definer’ and some of the ‘Reviewer’. The input to the process (the ‘Populated Applicable Competency Set’) is shown as an input parameter. The artefacts that are produced by the various activities are shown as flowing between output and input pins on activities. A decision with two control flows that leave it controls exit from the process as indicated by the guards and the use of a final node.
