Keep in mind that drift detection does not currently support all resources, and, for the resources it does support, not all properties can be successfully identified. If you get in the habit of making all changes via CloudFormation templates, then hopefully you won't need this feature at all. But, if you do need it, it's worth taking some time to read up on its limitations.
