INTRODUCTION

This appendix provides a summary of the UML notation used throughout the book. Although the UML contains 13 different types of diagram, only four are used in this book. For each of these four UML diagram types two diagrams are given:

• the notation used on that diagram type;

• an example of that diagram type.

This appendix is not intended to be a tutorial on UML. For more information on the UML and the four diagrams used in this book see, for example, Holt (2009).
