Figure B.3 shows the notation used on use case diagrams. An example use case diagram is shown in Figure B.4.

Figure B.4 shows the requirements (represented by use cases) and stakeholders (represented as actors) for UCAM (represented by the system boundary). The requirement to ‘Assess Competency’ includes the requirements to ‘Carry out assessment’, ‘Understand source framework’, ‘Set up assessment’ and ‘populate framework’. There are many different variants of the requirement to ‘Assess competency’, such as ‘Assess competency for accreditation’, ‘Assess competency for education’, and so on. The stakeholders for the ‘Carry out assessment’ requirement are ‘Assessee’ and ‘Assessor’. The ‘Assessor’ stakeholder has types ‘Primary Assessor’ and ‘Secondary Assessor’.
