Figure B.5 shows the notation used in sequence diagrams. An example sequence diagram is shown in Figure B.6.

Figure B.6 shows a number of processes (represented as life lines) executed to fulfil a particular need (in this case, the UCAM processes that are executed in order to conduct self-assessment). Messages show one process ending and triggering the next.
