The table below identifies the first time this book discusses a SAS element, such as a procedure, statement, or option. The SAS element might also be discussed in later chapters.

The exception to the “first-time rule” is that Chapter 1 includes a brief example of the DATA step and PROC MEANS, but it does not discuss the SAS code. Consequently, the table below identifies the chapters where the code for the DATA step and PROC MEANS are discussed.
