CBT for Specific Conditions and Situations

Research has shown that CBT is an effective way to manage depression, anxiety, and other disorders. Studies indicate that those using CBT techniques often reduce or eliminate the need for medication in their treatment. CBT provides lasting change and gives you the skills you need to become your own therapist.

In this part, we address how CBT can help you manage depression, anxiety, addiction, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Choose the areas you find most problematic in your life to concentrate on; however, you will probably find useful information in the other chapters in this section as well. It is important to note that some of the issues discussed in this section are medical issues. You should consult with your doctor or therapist for help. However, many therapists use CBT techniques and this book can be used in conjunction with outside therapy.
