Create bivariate graphs
as shown in this case using the 2016 backlogs (Column Appts May 1
2016 31-60 days) as the y variable. Compare these charts to those
shown in the case. How do the relationships differ? Experiment with
other types of charts and graph options.
Create a bubble plot
with State on the x-axis, Difference on the y-axis, Beds as the size,
and color as Patient Satisfaction. Compare this plot to the map created
in this case. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each of these
plots.
Obtain the number of
veterans waiting 31-60 days for an appointment for May 2, 2017. Add
a new column to the data file VHA_appts.jmp for that data. Use Tables
> Stack to create reformat the table so that there is a new column
to indicate year. This format will enable you to animate a bubble
plot over time. Create a bubble plot with four variables of your
choice and animate it over the three years.
Choose another region
of the country and randomly select 12-16 VA medical centers. Build
a file similar to VHA_Appts.jmp. The information can be obtained
from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and Department
of Veterans Affairs websites. Recreate the plots presented in this
case. How does this region compare to the southeast region?
