Data was obtained from the Integrating Data for Analysis, Anonymization and SHaring (iDASH) website[1] for 372 hospital patients. The data for this case is synthetic, as it is difficult to obtain open-source patient-level medical information due to privacy concerns. The file CreatinineLevels.jmp contains the creatinine levels for these patients along with length of hospital stay, the presence of selected medical conditions, and demographic factors. Notice that the disease variables are “coded” meaning that numeric values are used to indicate the presence or absence of a disease. Similarly, the race category is coded in three levels. The variables and associated codes for this data set are given in the Data Definitions section.
