Thanks to my family whose sacrifice, dedication, and faith made the writing of this book possible. A special thanks to my son Jake for telling me about Google Translate in the very beginning of this process, which made writing this book a thousand times easier.

I’d like to thank the great minds at Apple, starting with Steve and the Woz. Between the iPhone and the iPad, Apple has provided the technology that facilitated this new art movement and binds it together. I consider myself fortunate to have lived in the Steve Jobs era and was always proud to be a an Apple fanboy. This man’s vision and quest for perfection has had profound consequences on the history of computing and, ultimately, the history of mankind.

A special thanks to Andrew Stone, my co-developer in the app “iCreated”. His hard work and expertise made my vision of an iPhone art app a reality. Like the miracle of creation (sorta), he built the app in six days from my initial email request to submission of the finished app to Apple. The app propelled me into this world of iPhone art, meeting artists, seeing new work every day, curating the gallery, and watching it gain recognition as a visual resource for iPhone/iPad art. The concept for this book was the same as the “iCreated” app, to create a visual correlation between art and apps. In addition to teaching technique and expert methodology, this book presents some early masterpieces and a bit of mobile digital art history, and for me it all started with Andrew C. Stone.

Last but definitely not least, I’d like to thank all the artists involved, who shared their art, their techniques, their time, and a little bit of their souls to make this book compelling and diverse.
