Customer managed products

In the case of customer managed products, the ISV has chosen to either create or migrate their existing product to a cloud-based model. Often, this means the vendor has taken significant steps to adopt cloud native architectures themselves and then sell their product to the end customer. In its simplest form, the product has been tested with one or more cloud vendors to ensure it works as intended, ensuring that the customer can install and configure it in a similar manner as doing so on-premises. Examples of this approach would be SAP or various Oracle products. In more complex scenarios, the ISV re-architects the product to take advantage of the cloud vendor's native services and microservices to achieve a level of scale, security, or availability that would be difficult to achieve if using the same product on-premises. Regardless of the approach the ISV has taken, choosing the right product requires careful evaluation of the features and pricing models, and comparisons with similar cloud vendor services if applicable, to ensure the product has the scalability and security needed for a cloud native architecture.
