In this chapter, we looked at how to customize Jira beyond the default templates provided by its agile templates. We looked at how to create new issue types and custom fields, as well as authoring workflows with custom permission and validations. We also introduced Jira's permission hierarchy and the options you have to secure your system against unauthorized access. Lastly, we looked at how to manage email notifications in Jira, so team members can stay up to date on changes that happen in their projects.

In the next chapter, we will look at some advanced topics, such as integrating Jira with other tools to go beyond what it can do with out-of-the box features.
