This chapter introduces BizTalk Orchestration, a new technology from Microsoft for designing and implementing business process workflows.
The first part of this chapter provides a quick tour through BizTalk Orchestration, giving enough information up front for subsequent sections to fall into place. The second part describes the design aspects of BizTalk Orchestration—the components, implementation, and semantics of a process workflow drawing. Chapter 10, “Using the BizTalk Orchestration Designer,” describes how to use the designer to build and run a BizTalk Orchestration business process.
In this chapter, you will learn what BizTalk Orchestration is, and what the terminology and concepts behind it are. You will understand the components of a process flow design and their function and operation. You will also see parts of the designer tool used to construct such designs.
