What Product Owners Do

Product owners represent the customer to the team. The product owner creates and ranks the product backlog for a team. Often, the product owner works with a product manager to create a coherent picture for the product (the roadmap) and this time period (the backlog).

The product owner takes input from the rest of the organization and creates and ranks the stories in the backlog. See Chapter 6, ​Teams Deliver Features​, for the details of how the product owner does that.

The product owner shepherds the business value of the roadmap and the team’s backlog so the team always delivers the most valuable work.
