Previous chapters have discussed how to define the structure of a business document using the BizTalk Editor, and you have seen how to map one document type to another using the BizTalk Mapper. Now it is time to learn how to tie them together using the BizTalk Messaging Engine.
At a very high level, the BizTalk Messaging Engine manages the various document specifications, maps, and processing instructions that tell BizTalk Server how to process a document—for example, how to get a purchase order from Company A's back-end to Company B's applications in an efficient manner. This chapter provides the information you need to understand the BizTalk Messaging process. Chapter 7, “Using the BizTalk Messaging Manager,” discusses how to configure the BizTalk Messaging properties using the BizTalk management interface wizards.
