1. What would it take for your team to use continuous integration? I often see teams move to smaller stories and support those stories with a wide variety of tests.
2. Ask the team what it can automate that will make it easy for the team to succeed. Does it need more test automation, build automation, or anything else?
3. Ask the team to note where it has unnecessary complexity or cruft in the code. Create stories for that work and add them to the product owner’s list of work.

Now that the team knows what to do for stories and what it might want to use for technical practices, it’s time think about estimation.
