Moving on

I won’t blame you at all if you’ve had all you want of me, recipes, and this <insert your favorite swear word here> application that turned out to take a whole lot longer to implement than you expected. But if you want to keep playing with it, there are a lot of ways it could be expanded.

Even if you’re not a serious cook, I bet you know one. Give it to them, and ask for ideas. See if you can make them work. When you have the all-seeing, all-dancing, ultimate cooks database, take it on the road! (Seriously, I’d love to see what you come up with. You can always contact me via the publisher.)

If you’re ready to move on, here are a few resources that you might find helpful:

Programming entity framework, by Julia Lerman

This book, along with its two companions, Programming Entity Framework: Code First and Programming Entity Framework: DbContext, are the go-to texts for advanced topics. Check out her blog, too. You’ll find it at thedatafarm.com/blog/.

The microsoft data developer center

Located (at the time of this writing) at msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/data, this is Microsoft’s portal for all things data-related.

The entity framework forum

When you get stuck, ask a question on the forum. You’ll find it at social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-us/adodotnetentityframework (you can also get to it from the Data Developer Center).

CodePlex

If you don’t already know about Microsoft’s open source project site, you really should check it out at www.codeplex.com. You’ll find tools, templates, and previews of things to come on this incredibly useful site.
