Some simple mods to make your notebook more functional

Create a pencil holder by wrapping a pencil in tape to form a long tube, sticky side out. Tape over the tube to attach it to the spine of the notebook.

Make a little pad from the sticky parts of Postit Notes and store them in the back of your notebook—fold them over the edge of a page to make a tag

Keep your pencils sharp! Glue two pieces of sandpaper into the back cover; coarse for the wood, fine to sharpen the lead.

Never lose your pen again. Clip two binder clips onto the edge of the back cover; flip over the handles so they’re out of the way. You can leave the handles on or remove them. Slip the pen clip into the binder clips and you’re good to go!

Make a tiny Moleskine by cutting one in half; mark where you want the cut and take it to Kinko’s for the surgery. Prevent fraying by running a thin bead of glue along the cut edge and the ends of the thread binding.

Here’s a way to “hipify” your Moleskine. Position an index card inside the front cover. Punch 2 holes through the card and cover and holes in the rest of the cards. Hold it all together with 1/2” binder rings.

Poke the binder rings through the holes in the cover and the cards, then close the rings. Voilà! You have a planner.

Here’s another clever way to keep your pen with your Moleskine. Thread the cloth bookmark through the pen clip, with the clip facing up. Slide the pen up the bookmark to the top of the book.

Close the notebook and pull down on the bookmark so the pen is held snugly against the top of the book. Loop the elastic band around the notebook and the pen to hold the pen securely.
