The advantages of a focus group or visioning activity:

• It can be effective when presenting the group with something very specific to respond to, such as a working proof of concept
• It can be effective when asking the group to respond to alternative design approaches
• In some cases, putting a focus group together can be relatively easy, such as in university campuses, and when using coworkers as a sounding board
