Summary

This chapter covered a number of the key integration points between Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010. Not every feature could be covered in the space of one chapter, but a number of key topics were covered, such as the basics of using Word 2010 and SharePoint 2010, the newly branded Office Backstage tool, along with different methods of creating shortcuts that enable end users to quickly save documents to SharePoint document libraries. In addition, the coauthoring capabilities of Word 2010 and PowerPoint 2010 were covered, the basics of using SharePoint Workspace 2010, and finally a number of oft-used features in Outlook 2010 that allow users to connect lists and libraries to Outlook 2010. Some notes were provided about the 2007 versions of these products, but just from a high level, and power users and IT should test earlier versions carefully to ensure the end-user experience will be acceptable.
