Scenario 1

Roy is the CRM administrator at Acme Ltd. He wants to explore the mobile capabilities that are available, preview the account entity form, and check the look and feel of the form in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 mobile and tablet applications.

The following steps are required for the CRM administrator:

  1. Navigate to Settings | Customizations | Customize the System:
  1. A popup window will open with all the customization components of the system (Solution: Default Solution). Expand the entities. Select Account and pick Forms:
Note: Default Solution is a container containing all the customization elements and code elements that are configured in the CRM system.
  1. Double-click the Information form to open it with a form editor:
  1. Note that there is a Preview button available. Click on it to expand it, select Mobile Client, and you will be presented with two options—one for Tablet and another for Phone:
  1. Pick Tablet experience. The following screen will be presented across to you while the preview is being generated. Please wait for the preview to be generated:
  1. Once the customization preview for Tablet is ready, Roy can see the look-and-feel of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 form in a tablet interface:
  1. Roy can also quickly check for the appearance in the mobile application by changing the platform icon (top-right of the screen) to the mobile icon:
  1. On Selecting the mobile icon, Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 starts generating the screen layout preview of the Account form in the mobile app for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016:
  1. Once the customization preview for mobile is ready, Roy is able to quickly view the look-and-feel of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 form in the mobile app:

This new enhancement to preview mobile and tablet forms without the need to download, install, and configure the app on a mobile or tablet device makes Roy a lot more productive and efficient in configuring the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 forms for mobile and tablet apps.
