Creating a Word template

A Word template can be generated in three different places in Dynamics 365:

  1. Navigate to Settings | Templates | Document Templates:
  1. The following is the Templates panel; select Document Templates:
  1. Click on +NEW to proceed:
  1. We can create both Excel and Word templates. As we are discussing Word templates, so we will select Word Template for this example:
  1. We can upload an already existing template, as well as create a new one. Let's look at how to create a new Word template. Examine the following image and read the context following it:

The relationships defined in the preceding screenshot define the entities available when the template is defined later. Now, we can select the relationships that we want to be available in the template. After selecting the required options, we can click on the Download Template button. Please note that for this option, you must have enough permissions in the corresponding security roles to view the Settings page, which means that you must either be a system administrator or a system customizer.
