Audit and accountability

Every stakeholder involved in an IT initiative must be held responsible for meeting the quality-attribute requirements. The process should be rolled-out, publishedm and understood by all the key stakeholders. Quality audits are not only held to find defects or nonconformance but also to promote the software-quality understanding within the engagement team. Before starting any quality checks, the approach, and the methodology should be communicated to top management, software architects, and software engineers so that everyone understands what the audit entails and how deficiencies will be detected and communicated. In addition to helping the audit process, this also provides stakeholders with an opportunity to think through ways of improving quality throughout the SDLC.
