HOT TIP
There are often
areas in the
surrounding
image that are
close to the target
color range, and
they will get
changed as well.
One solution is to
duplicate the layer,
apply Replace
Color, and then
simply erase or
mask the parts you
didn’t want
to change.
2
Choose Image > Adjustments > Replace Color and this
dialog will appear. Start by dragging the Hue slider all
the way to one side, then click on the blue in the image. The
preview in the dialog shows the selected area in white.

We don’t want that bright orange, of course – but it’s
useful to show which areas have been changed. Now that
the whole thing is selected, we can choose the color we want
it to end up. Here, I’ve dragged the Hue slider way over to the
right, and lowered the Saturation to some degree.
3
Here’s the result so far: the range of blues similar to those
we first clicked on have turned orange. We could increase
the Fuzziness setting to extend the range, but it’s better to
hold S and click on areas in the image that are still blue.
6
And this is the result: that blue machine has now turned
red, a perfect match for the rest of the workshop. It’s a
really easy, straightforward process, and one that gives you
tremendous flexibility with minimal effort.
