8 Move your pointer to the left side of the screen and press the spacebar to
play the project.
9 If you’re satisfied with the edit, click Done in the upper-right corner of the
Precision Editor.
The window closes and your edits are incorporated into your movie.
Now, that’s a pretty fancy edit!
Finishing Your Movie
Once you’ve gotten the edits the way you like, there are many additional bells
and whistles you can add to create a professional, polished-looking finished
piece. The first one you’ll learn is how to reframe a clip.
Sometimes the framing of your shots may be less than ideal. The action may
be off-center or the camera may be zoomed out too far. Fortunately, iMovie
has a powerful cropping tool that allows you to zoom in on your clips and
make them look their best.
1 Click the last clip in the project to select it.
2 Click the Crop, Rotate and Ken Burns button in the toolbar.

The Viewer updates to show a selection rectangle around the video. In
this case, you’ll zoom in to center the baby in the frame. You want to be

sure the sequence looks great when the kid looks at the camera at the end of
the shot.
3 Move your pointer over one of the last frames in the clip and click it to
freeze the Viewer on the frame.
4 In the Viewer, grab the corner of the green selection rectangle and shrink
it, then position it so the baby is well-framed within the shot.
5 When you’re satisfied with your cropping, click Done in the upper-right
corner of the Viewer.
The crop is applied and the Crop, Rotate and Ken Burns window closes.
NOTE
By zooming in on this frame, we’re changing the resolution of the
clip. Because we’re planning to post this on the Internet (and we started
out with high-definition video), this resolution loss shouldn’t affect the
picture quality noticeably. But be aware that playing cropped footage on
a TV or a large monitor may show a loss in quality.
