334 Learning to Play Music with GarageBand
2 For the Guitar lesson, select TAB & Standard under the Notation column.
This view includes a combination of two common types of guitar
notation.
For the Piano lesson, select Both Hands under the Notation column.
NOTE
In the Automatic view, the notation appearance will change
automatically, depending on what is being presented in the lesson. For
the guitar lesson, because this particular lesson includes only basic picking
and strumming, the automatic view actually hides the notation for most
of the lesson.
3 Select Notation & Instrument under the Appearance column.
4 Click Done to return to the lesson.
5 For the Guitar Lesson, play the Picking and Strumming chapter.
6 For the Piano Lesson, play the Chord Progressions chapter.
The Notation view appears in the middle of the screen whenever the
instructor plays the guitar or piano.
Notice that the animated instrument also shows which notes are played in
unison with the notation.
7 Press the numeric keys 2-5 to alternate between chord symbols, chord fin-
gering grids, tablature (TAB), or standard notation. Press 6-9 to change the
appearance to show or hide the Notation view and animated instrument.
