382 Creating an iPhone Ringtone
Merging Real Instrument Regions
The final steps to completing this ringtone are to arrange the regions and
merge them into one finished region. Technically you don’t have to merge
them, but it ensures that you don’t have excess space between regions. Merging
regions is often used with musical recordings to create a finished track or sec-
tion that can then be looped or duplicated more easily as a single region.
1 Press Command-E to hide the editor if it’s still showing. Drag the Time-
line Zoom slider to about 1/2 to match the screenshots.
2 Drag the second and third regions in the Female Narrator Noisy track
toward the left until they’re all touching each other in the Timeline. Feel
free to overlap them slightly to cover excess silence at the end of a region.
3 Move the trimmed region from the Female Basic track down to the empty
space between the third and fourth regions in the Female Narrator Noisytrack.
4 Move the last two regions in the track toward the left until all of the regions
are next to each other in the track. Feel free to use the Edited track below
as a guide for placement.
