Adding Audio 189
Although the tasteful use of select transitions can make your show
look more professional, overusing such effects or, worse, mixing many dif-
ferent types, tends to have the opposite effect.
Adding Audio
Music and sound effects are incredibly powerful tools for improving your movie.
Simply putting the right song behind a collection of clips transforms it, uniting
the shots and giving the whole movie a consistent tone. Of course, choosing the
wrong music can do an equal amount of damage, so choose wisely.
In iMovie, you can access all the music in your iTunes library, as well as any
music you may have created in GarageBand. Furthermore, iLife ’09 comes with
a large collection of music and sound effects ready to be added to your project
quickly and easily. Adding sound effects can be your secret weapon to make
your movies feel realistic and professional.
