360 Jamming with a Virtual Band
7 In the Save As window, click Save.
This saving method is great for finished projects, but takes longer to save,
and isn’t necessary until you’re ready to share the project with other iLife
applications.
Your project has been successfully saved to the folder you created on your
desktop.
That’s it! You’ve created and saved a rock song. And you have a good working
knowledge of the Magic GarageBand Jam interface.
Now you’re ready to share your project with iTunes.
NOTE
The song opened in GarageBand with the name “02. Rock 1.”
This naming convention is based on the way Magic GarageBand saves
your work behind the scenes. 02 and Rock represent the genre, and
1 is the version of the Magic GarageBand Rock project you’re work-
ing on. The next Rock Magic GarageBand Jam session you open and
change will be “02. Rock 2” and so on. These Magic GarageBand proj-
ects are saved to User > Library > Application Support > GarageBand >
Working Copies.
Sharing Your Finished Projects
Now it’s time to learn how to share Magic GarageBand projects with other
iLife applications and export them to iTunes where they can be downloaded
onto your iPod or burned to a CD.
All of the iLife ’09 applications, including GarageBand, are designed to work
together seamlessly. You can write music in GarageBand and export your
songs to iTunes; score your iMovie video and export it as a QuickTime movie
or send it to iDVD; send your finished podcast to iWeb to publish on the
Internet; or create a whole playlist of original songs to be shared with any of
your applications.
