370 Creating an iPhone Ringtone
Opening a Ringtone Template
You can turn any short piece of music or dialogue into an iPhone ringtone.
That includes snippets of your favorite songs. Rather than create a ringtone
from scratch, let’s start by opening a ringtone project preset, and then choose
a ringtone template.
1 Open GarageBand. In the New Project dialog, click iPhone Ringtone.
There are three ringtone templates: Example Ringtone, Loops, and Voice.
2 Double-click Loops to create a loops-based ringtone.
3 In the New Project dialog, name the project LoopRing, and save it to the
My GarageBand Projects folder on your desktop.
The GarageBand LoopRing project opens with everything you need
already in place to finish and send the ringtone, including a yellow cycle
region showing above the Timeline, the Loop Browser showing so that
you can select additional loops, and a Timeline with four tracks already
containing a basic Apple Loop arrangement for the ringtone.
