Importing Photos from a Memory Card
Most digital cameras store their photos on a removable memory card. You can
purchase additional memory cards for your camera in order to increase the
cameras photo capacity. Additional memory cards can come in very handy
when youre taking a lot of pictures out in the field: Simply put an empty card
in your camera when the card you’ve been using becomes full.
If you purchase a card reader that’s compatible with your cameras memory
card and connect the card reader to your Mac, you can import the photos
directly from the card using the card reader instead of having to connect your
camera. This is useful when you want to conserve your cameras battery
charge, or if you have several memory cards on hand from which you want to
import pictures. Most card readers connect to a USB port on your Mac, much
as a camera does.
To import photos into iPhoto from a memory card, follow these steps:
1 Connect your card reader to your Mac. If iPhoto doesn’t open automati-
cally, open it.
