3 Skim the red-skirt shot and drag from just before he makes his big turn
until just after he spins around completely (about 2 seconds).
4 Drag the selection onto the repetitive shot in the Project Browser.
When you release the mouse button, the Edit Options menu appears.
5 Choose Replace to exchange one shot with the other.
Excellent work! Little by little, you’re refining this rough cut into a polished,
finished work of art.
Using the Clip Trimmer
Often you’ll want to make some adjustments to the timing of a clip after it’s
been added to your project. For example, in this project the close-up shot of
the two horn players begins with a bit of camera jostle that’s distracting and
also ruins the smooth cut between the wide shot of the horn players and the
close-up.
You learned some ways to modify a clip in the project in Lesson 5, but there
are other, more powerful ways to adjust individual clips, such as the Clip
Trimmer.
1 Position your pointer over the close-up shot of the horn players, and when
the Action menu pop-up appears, click it and choose Clip Trimmer.

A new pane appears on top of the Event Browser. All of the footage from the
selected clip is visible, with the area used in the project highlighted.
2 Adjust the Zoom slider in the lower-right corner until it says 2s (two
seconds).

You can drag either edge to shorten the beginning or end of the clip,
or you can drag the yellow box to move the selection without changing
the duration of the clip.
In this case you need to remove a few frames from the beginning of the shot.
3 Click the left handle and, while watching the viewer, drag right until the
camera jostle settles (until the duration reads approximately 5.3 seconds).
4 Click the Play Current Clip Segment button to watch just the selected area.
To trim another clip in the project, click the Previous Clip or Next
Clip button, or click any clip directly in the Project Browser, and the Clip
Trimmer will update to show the new clip. In this case you don’t need to
trim any other clips.
5 Click Done in the upper-right corner of the Clip Trimmer to close the pane.
