448 Publishing a Website
NOTE
Even if you own your own Internet domain, you can still pub-
lish your site to your MobileMe account and have users visit your site by
entering your domain’s address. Choose File > Set Up Personal Domain
on MobileMe to have iWeb walk you through the process of setting up
MobileMe hosting of a personal domain.
To see what the finished page should look like (since we can’t put a finished
version on the DVD), go to http://www.peachpit.com/ats.iLife09.
Publishing Your Website via FTP
If you choose not to publish to your MobileMe account, you can still use iWeb
to design a site and then publish your site to a web host via FTP or to a folder
on your computer, which you can then manually upload to a web server oper-
ated by your Internet service provider or other web hosting service.
1 To begin, select the site in the sidebar.
The Site Publishing controls appear in the center pane.
2 Choose FTP Server from the “Publish to” menu.
3 Enter your login information as well as the domain name for the site.
4 Click the Test Connection button to make sure your login information is
correct.
5 When ready, click Publish Site and follow the on-screen prompts to
upload the site. The process is very similar to publishing with MobileMe.
