When you play across this section of the project, the movie cuts away to
the monks while the other clip is out of focus.
You can adjust the length and position of the cutaway by dragging the
cutaway clip in the Project Browser.
5 Drag the monks clip to the left or right as necessary to ensure that it
covers the blurry section.
In addition to fixing mistakes, the cutaway edit is also perfect
for interviews; if you have footage showing what the person is talking
about, cut away to that shot and you’ll still hear the person talking at
the same time.
Creating a Picture-in-Picture Effect
Very similar to the cutaway edit is the picture-in-picture edit. It works exactly
the same as the cutaway, but instead of selecting Cutaway in the Edit Options
menu you choose Picture in Picture.
In this case, instead of the cutaway covering the whole background clip, the
new shot is placed in a little window on top of the background.
You can resize and reposition the picture-in-picture directly in the Viewer.
