into the frame at exactly the wrong moment. You can, of course, discard the
photo, but iPhoto also has several features you can use to protect your eyes
from an unattractive or unusable image without deleting it.
The easiest way to preserve your aesthetic vision without deleting these photos
permanently is to conceal them from view. For example, the Rope Swing Event
contains several pictures of boys swinging on a rope swing. One of those pic-
tures, though an otherwise fine action shot, is blurry and not framed very well.
Although you could discard the photo (as you’ll see how to do later in this les-
son), you might not be ready to take that step, so you can hide the photo instead:
1 In the search field, click the x to clear the field, and then type 8722.
The blurry photo is titled DSC_8722; iPhoto’s search feature takes you
right to it.
2 Click the photo to select it.
3 At the left side of the toolbar at the bottom of the viewing area, click Hide.
The photo disappears and the viewing area is empty. However, a message
has appeared in the upper right of the viewing area. This message, though
it doesn’t look like it, is actually a button. When an Event or a search result
